From the beginning, Better Batters wanted a 3 metre by 3 metre walk in freezer.
This size would provide sufficient storage capacity for current production while allowing additional space as manufacturing continued to grow.
However, budget constraints initially led the client to consider reducing the freezer size to 2.5 metres by 2.5 metres.
While the smaller room would reduce the initial investment, it would also reduce storage capacity and potentially require another expansion much sooner.
Glotech Group believed the larger freezer remained the better long term investment. Rather than encouraging the client to compromise, we looked for another solution.
One advantage of operating within the commercial refrigeration industry for more than 15 years is building strong relationships with trusted suppliers.
Instead of reducing the scope of the project, Glotech Group negotiated directly with equipment suppliers to secure improved pricing on refrigeration equipment and installation materials.
These negotiations resulted in substantial supplier discounts.
The savings achieved allowed Better Batters to proceed with the original 3 metre by 3 metre freezer without exceeding the available budget.

Approximately one week after installation, the freezer entered its operational testing phase while the client began using the room under normal production conditions.
During this stage, a practical issue became apparent.
Better Batters moves heavy ingredient and finished product trolleys in and out of the freezer throughout the day.
Repeated trolley movement placed greater loading on the doorway threshold than originally anticipated.
Although the refrigeration system performed perfectly, the entrance required additional structural reinforcement to better support the operational demands of the business.
Rather than applying a temporary repair, Glotech Group redesigned the entrance section. The doorway was strengthened using a hardwood support plank, providing significantly greater structural strength.
To maintain a professional finish and protect the new reinforcement, the hardwood was covered with a durable checker plate floor finish.
This solution achieved several important objectives:
The entrance now comfortably supports continuous trolley movement without affecting the integrity of the freezer floor.
During the doorway upgrade, Glotech Group also took the opportunity to further improve freezer performance.
The door assembly was resealed to eliminate potential condensation around the entrance.
